Job Summary

As the Team Lead for Skilled Immigration, Labor Market, and Academic Studies within the Region Hannover administration, you will oversee a critical department responsible for residency matters related to employment, higher education, and vocational training. Your day-to-day responsibilities include the personnel and organizational management of your team, providing technical guidance on complex legal cases, and managing the department's financial budget. You will serve as a key liaison for international professionals, employers, and universities, while strategically developing partnerships with economic and employment promotion agencies. This role is ideal for a leadership professional with a strong background in administrative law who wants to shape migration policy at a regional level. The position offers a permanent contract, flexible working models including home office options, and the stability of the German public service sector (TVöD E 12 / A 12 salary scales).

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Diploma) in Public Administration, Administrative Management, or Law. Alternatively, completion of the 'Zweite Angestelltenprüfung' (Administrative Specialist qualification).

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience based on the required administrative or legal qualifications
  • Proven experience in personnel management and leadership
  • Extensive experience working with residency law and administrative processes
  • Experience in managing complex legal cases and handling formal complaints
  • Experience in financial responsibility and departmental steering

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Must meet requirements for German Public Service career group 2 (Laufbahngruppe 2). Knowledge of labor market stakeholders and migration policy developments is required. Position requires familiarity with Gender Mainstreaming strategies.
