Job Summary

This role supports the newly funded Excellence Cluster 'The Mars Perspective' at the University of Bremen, operating within the Mars Production Laboratory. You will be responsible for the day-to-day development and implementation of data and workflow management systems, including the administration of electronic laboratory notebooks and collaborative software. A key focus involves integrating machine learning methods and semantic technologies, such as ontologies, into research processes. You will act as a bridge between technology and science by supporting researchers in system usage and contributing to research proposals. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable space exploration and the green transition on Earth while working in a highly interdisciplinary environment between the Center for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM) and the Leibniz Institute for Materials-Oriented Technologies (IWT).

Required Skills

Education

University degree (FH Diploma or Bachelor's) in Computer Science or a comparable field.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in Computer Science or a related field
  • Professional experience in server and network administration
  • Professional experience in (research) data management
  • Experience in the application of Semantic Web technologies
  • Sound programming experience, specifically in Python

Additional

  • Location: University of Bremen Campus (ZARM and Leibniz-IWT). Fixed-term contract until December 31, 2032. Willingness to participate in cluster events and retreats required.
