Job Summary

This PhD student position offers a unique opportunity to investigate heart failure and cardio-renal crosstalk, focusing specifically on platelet-macrophage-fibroblast interactions in chronic kidney disease (CKD)-driven cardiac remodeling. The successful candidate will be rigorously trained in both cutting-edge wet-lab technologies, such as generating multiplexed immunofluorescence images, and advanced computational tools, including deep learning for bioimage analysis. The role involves integrating closely with the Digital Pathology research group to train and deploy histology segmentation models and perform downstream analysis of morphometric features in conjunction with spatial transcriptomics data. This interdisciplinary position is ideal for a highly motivated researcher with a Master's degree in biology, medicine, or a related field, seeking to build a combined skillset in experimental and computational pathology for a successful career in academia or industry. The part-time position (26 hours/week) is initially limited to three years with the option for prolongation.
