Job Summary

This role involves operating and advancing the cutting-edge KOMPASS three-axis spectrometer at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II) in Garching, Munich. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the commissioning and characterization of the instrument, focusing on investigating dynamic processes in condensed matter, including solid-state physics, magnetism, and quantum materials. Day-to-day tasks include providing scientific and technical support to national and international user groups, developing advanced neutron spectroscopy methods, particularly neutron polarization analysis, and pursuing independent scientific research projects. The position requires a degree in Natural Sciences, ideally a PhD, coupled with professional experience in neutron scattering or related condensed matter scattering techniques. This is a unique opportunity to work at one of the world's most powerful neutron sources within an international, collaborative scientific environment.
