Job Summary

This role involves the organization and supervision of occupational safety, fire protection, and radiation protection at the Physics Department of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Garching. As a key member of the safety department, you will be responsible for quality management, creating and updating risk assessments, and conducting workplace inspections. A significant portion of the day-to-day work involves training, advising, and supporting staff members in health and safety matters, while ensuring all measures comply with legal regulations. You will work closely with the university's central safety office to maintain high safety standards across the School of Natural Sciences.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Fachhochschule), preferably in the field of Physics or a related technical discipline.

Experience

  • Professional experience in operational safety management, occupational safety, fire protection, and radiation protection
  • Experience working within a university or academic research environment is preferred
  • Proven expertise in relevant safety and radiation protection legal regulations
  • Experience in conducting workplace inspections and safety audits

Additional

  • Class B (passenger car) driver's license required. Willingness to obtain specialized expertise in radiation protection (Fachkunde im Strahlenschutz) if not already held. Appointment as a deputy radiation protection officer is a requirement of the role.
