Job Summary

This position offers a unique opportunity for a doctoral candidate to join the Cell Biology research group at the University of Bremen, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of neuronal plasticity. The core project involves characterizing Neurotrophin signal transduction in cellular models of neurodegeneration. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing scientific services in research, contributing to ongoing research projects, and undertaking teaching duties (2 SWS) in Bachelor's and Master's programs, including practical courses in cell biology. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Biology or a related field with relevant research focus. Success in this role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a collaborative spirit. Prior knowledge of cell culture and cell biological approaches, coupled with good English writing skills, is highly desirable for this fixed-term, part-time research role.

Required Skills

Education

Master of Science or University Diploma in Biology or a comparable field with relevant research focus. Candidates in the final phase of their Master's studies may be considered, but the degree is mandatory for employment.

Experience

  • Professional experience relevant to the research focus (Biology/related field)
  • Experience in academic teaching or instruction (implied by 2 SWS teaching load)
  • Experience in scientific research projects
  • Vorkenntnisse in der Zellkultur und zellbiologischen Ansätzen (Desirable)

  • The position is fixed-term for 3 years for scientific qualification purposes (§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG). The role is part-time (50% or 19.6 hours per week). Applicants must be eligible for a fixed-term contract under the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).
