Job Summary
This role is a unique opportunity for a scientist to pursue a doctoral degree while working on a funded research project focused on the dry-technical processing of cereals as food raw materials. The successful candidate will coordinate and execute inter-group investigations, manage work packages, and collaborate closely with external project partners, including a technical university and a brewery. Key responsibilities involve planning and conducting chemical and physical analyses, characterizing the techno-functional properties of milled products and derived foods, and documenting research data. The position requires a Master’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field, along with experience in assessing cereal-based food raw materials and applying instrumental analytical methods, particularly in protein analytics. This fixed-term, part-time position (65% FTE) offers a supportive environment at the Max Rubner Institute in Detmold, geared towards scientific qualification and publication.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Food Science, or a comparable qualification
Experience
- Professional knowledge and experience in assessing food raw materials and foods, especially those derived from cereals
- Professional knowledge and experience in applying chemical and physical analytical procedures, particularly in food chemistry and/or protein analytics
- Experience in grain processing (Desirable)
- Experience in creating conference contributions (Desirable)
- Experience in creating final reports and scientific publications (Desirable)
- Knowledge of project and research data management (Desirable)

- Fixed-term contract from April 1, 2026, until November 30, 2028. Part-time employment (65% of a full-time position, 25.35 hours/week). The position is intended to support the candidate's scientific qualification (pursuing a PhD/Doctorate).
