Job Summary

The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry is seeking a highly motivated Application Scientist and Facility Head to lead the newly formed Lentiviral Core Facility. This role is pivotal in driving the innovative use of lentivirus platforms, supporting the institute's scientific community in gene editing, transfer, and large/small-scale genetic screening. Day-to-day responsibilities include modifying and developing vectors for cDNA transfer and CRISPR-Cas9-based gene modification, producing Lentivirus particles, and maintaining detailed electronic records according to gene technology guidelines. The successful candidate will act as the primary contact for users, discussing project strategy, troubleshooting issues, and overseeing the work of one technician. This position requires a high level of initiative, strong problem-solving skills, and the flexibility to adapt to evolving user needs and project landscapes, ensuring efficiency and high-quality results across the institute.
