Job Summary

This role involves conducting theoretical investigations into the coupling of Rydberg excitons in Cu₂O with electromagnetic fields, contributing to the 'RydSens' project at the University of Rostock. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with international project partners, including the NRC Ottawa, and is expected to author scientific publications based on their research findings. This position offers a unique opportunity for doctoral candidates, providing the possibility for a PhD within the field of Theoretical Physics. Day-to-day tasks also include mentoring Bachelor's and Master's students on related projects and assisting the research group with essential scientific organizational tasks, such as preparing orders and managing administrative procedures. Ideal candidates possess a strong academic background in Theoretical Physics, experience in Quantum Optics and Atomic Physics methods, and excellent written and spoken English skills.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (State Examination, Diploma, Master, or comparable qualification) in Theoretical Physics, preferably with very good grades.

Experience

  • Professional experience with methods of Theoretical Quantum Optics and Atomic Physics
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with experimental groups
  • Experience in team-based work is essential
