Job Summary

This role is a unique opportunity for a Research Associate to contribute to cutting-edge international research in Circular Design and Recycling Technologies, specifically within the framework of the 'CD-Rise' project in collaboration with the Tamale Technical University Ghana. The associate will be responsible for establishing new research directions in Circular Design and Recycling Technologies, leading the 'CD-Rise' project, and conducting applied research for Master's students. Key tasks include analyzing existing research, designing and executing experimental or model-based studies, publishing results, and setting up a new research laboratory for plastic and ceramic recycling. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in a relevant engineering or science field, possesses strong foundational knowledge in recycling technologies and material flow analysis, and is proficient in English, with basic German skills or the willingness to acquire them quickly. This temporary, full-time position offers a challenging academic environment at the University of Rostock.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma, or comparable) in Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, Waste and Resource Management, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Technology, Product Design, Sustainable/Integrated Design, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable discipline. Doctoral degree (PhD) in the aforementioned fields is desirable.

Experience

  • Professional experience in conceptualizing, conducting, and evaluating experimental and/or model-based research
  • Applied experience in managing projects
  • Experience in writing and publishing scientific papers
  • Experience in international research collaborations (advantageous)
