Job Summary

The University of Rostock is seeking a Research Associate to join the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, focusing on Maritime Control Engineering within the 'Digital SOW2' project. This role involves independent scientific research, development, and validation of advanced control, navigation, and perception systems for automated driving on inland waterways. Key responsibilities include creating tools for modeling and simulation of test vehicles, developing real-time algorithms for sensor data processing (especially high-resolution LIDAR), and establishing object-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) as a GNSS backup. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Informatics, Electrical, Information, or Automation Engineering, coupled with strong research experience in maritime system modeling, sensor fusion, and predictive control. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and fluent German and English skills are essential for success in this fixed-term research position, which offers the opportunity for further employment and doctoral studies.
