Job Summary

This position involves contributing to a critical, fixed-term project focused on developing and implementing conservation strategies for non-commercially utilized fish fauna within Germany's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Baltic Sea. The Research Associate will be responsible for organizing, preparing, and executing research expeditions, including planning and documenting minimally invasive fishing surveys. A core part of the role involves the scientific analysis and statistical evaluation of ecological data, aimed at integrating findings into food web models to develop concrete management solutions. Successful candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Fish Biology, Marine Biology), possess practical experience with fisheries biological methods and ecological data analysis (preferably in R), and be prepared for multi-day sea voyages and fieldwork.
