Job Summary

This PhD position is part of the structured training program GRK 2504, focusing on novel antiviral approaches at the Erlangen University Hospital. The successful candidate will primarily analyze antigen-specific cells related to initial germinal center responses and subsequent humoral/B-cell memory formation in mice immunized with various vaccine formulations. This role requires a Master's degree in a relevant life science field (e.g., cell/molecular biology, immunology) and mandatory prior expertise in working with mice, including possession of a FELASA B certificate. Day-to-day tasks involve advanced laboratory techniques such as cell culture, isolation of immune cell populations, ELISA, ELISPOT, and flow cytometry. Strong English skills are essential, and enthusiasm for the specialized training program is highly valued. Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree or equivalent in cell/molecular biology, immunology, virology, molecular medicine, biology, life sciences, or biomedical sciences

Experience

  • Professional experience in working with mice
  • Expertise in cell culture/isolation of specific cellular populations (preference for immune cells)
  • Expertise with techniques such as ELISA, ELISPOT and flow cytometry
  • Additional experience with mRNA technology and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) is a merit
