Job Summary

This role involves supporting cutting-edge research at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, focusing on identifying new anti-infectives to combat antibiotic resistance and emerging pathogens. The successful candidate will perform diverse laboratory tasks, including routine biological work such as cultivating microorganisms and cells, and preparing/supporting screening experiments utilizing the high-throughput JenXplor robotics platform. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background as a BTA, MTA, or Biologielaborant, or a Bachelor/Master's degree in a life science discipline. Key responsibilities also include maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment and managing procurement. The position offers work in a modern, interdisciplinary research setting with state-of-the-art automated infrastructure, contributing directly to global health challenges.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a BTA (Biological Technical Assistant), MTA (Medical Technical Assistant), Biologielaborant (Biological Laboratory Technician), or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a life science (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology), or equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Practical experience and expertise in microbiological, molecular biological, and biochemical laboratory work
  • Experience in cell culture (Optional)
  • Experience with automated laboratory or robotics systems (Ideal)
  • Experience working with pathogenic microorganisms (High reliability and diligence required)
