Job Summary

This role is for a Research Scientist to join the Sensor Data Intelligence team at the Fraunhofer FHR, focusing on advanced radar and multisensor systems. The position is a balanced blend of experimental and scientific work, split 50/50. Experimentally, you will plan and execute radar measurement campaigns, build and operate complex experimental demonstrators, and manage logistical support for field deployments. Scientifically, you will develop and implement advanced signal processing algorithms, analyze large measurement datasets for AI, imaging, and tracking applications, and contribute to the creation of 'Digital Twins' and data-driven models. This role requires a background in engineering or physics, strong skills in experimental setup, and proficiency in numerical methods (e.g., Python/MATLAB), offering a unique interface between hands-on hardware development and cutting-edge scientific analysis within a leading European research institute.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent Diploma) in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology, Physics, Computer Science, Robotics, or a comparable engineering discipline

Experience

  • Experience in experimental setup, measurement technology, or operating complex sensor systems
  • Initial experience with radar hardware or high-frequency technical measurement setups (ideal)
  • Knowledge of signal processing and basic ability to implement numerical procedures
