Job Summary

This role involves leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive diocesan climate protection concept, focusing on energy, mobility, procurement, and IT infrastructure. The Climate Protection Manager will be responsible for creating energy and greenhouse gas balances, managing the project lifecycle, and coordinating implementation measures across various church facilities and parishes. Key activities include process and project management, organizing internal workshops, contributing to public relations, and advising internal stakeholders on public funding programs related to climate protection. The ideal candidate holds a degree in environmental engineering, energy technology, or a related field, possesses extensive professional experience in climate protection and sustainability management, and demonstrates strong project steering and communication skills. This is a crucial, initially two-year fixed-term position funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, offering a chance to apply expertise in a values-driven, sustainable environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply/Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability
  • Experience in public relations
  • Experience with project development and steering
  • Experience with church structures and collaboration with volunteers is advantageous
