Job Summary

The Diocese of Speyer is seeking an engaged Climate Protection Manager to lead its transition towards a sustainable and climate-friendly future. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive development and implementation of the diocesan climate protection concept, including creating energy and greenhouse gas balances across real estate, mobility, procurement, and IT infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include process and project management, coordinating internal administrative efforts, organizing workshops, and developing advisory services for parishes and church institutions. The successful candidate will possess extensive professional experience in climate protection and sustainability, coupled with strong project steering and communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity to apply specialized expertise in a value-driven environment, contributing significantly to innovative projects funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, initially on a two-year fixed-term basis.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply or Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability
  • Experience in public relations and media affinity
  • Experience with project development and steering
  • Experience with church structures and collaboration with volunteers is advantageous
