Job Summary

The Diocese of Speyer is seeking an engaged Climate Protection Manager to drive their commitment to a sustainable and climate-friendly future. This crucial role, initially limited to two years and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, involves the comprehensive creation and implementation of an integrated climate protection concept. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing energy and greenhouse gas balances across diocesan structures (real estate, mobility, procurement, IT), managing the project lifecycle, and coordinating internal stakeholders. The manager will also develop consulting services for parishes, organize workshops, and support internal teams in securing public funding for climate initiatives. Candidates must possess a relevant university degree (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Sustainability Science) and extensive professional experience in climate protection, energy management, and project steering. This position offers the opportunity to apply specialized expertise in a value-oriented, ecclesiastical environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply/Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and professional experience in climate protection, energy, and environmental management
  • Experience in public relations and media affinity
  • Competencies in project development and steering
  • Experience with ecclesiastical structures and working with volunteers is advantageous
