Job Summary

The Diocese of Speyer is seeking an engaged Climate Protection Manager to spearhead its transition towards a sustainable and climate-friendly future. This project-based role, initially limited to two years and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, involves the crucial task of developing an integrated diocesan Climate Protection Concept, including energy and greenhouse gas balances across real estate, mobility, procurement, and IT infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading the process and project management for the concept creation, developing and implementing initial measures, and coordinating stakeholders both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in relevant fields like Environmental Engineering or Sustainability Science, coupled with comprehensive professional experience in climate protection, energy management, and project steering, while also demonstrating strong communication skills for organizing workshops and public relations efforts.

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply or Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability

  • Competence in project development and steering
  • Experience with church structures and working with volunteers (advantageous)
