Job Summary

This role involves leading the development and implementation of an integrated diocesan climate protection concept for the Diocese of Speyer, focusing on achieving a sustainable and climate-friendly future. The manager will be responsible for creating energy and greenhouse gas balances across areas like real estate, mobility, procurement, and IT infrastructure. Key day-to-day tasks include process and project management, coordinating internal administrative tasks, organizing workshops and information events, and developing initial climate protection measures and consulting services for parishes. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge in climate protection, energy management, and sustainability, coupled with strong project steering and communication skills. This is a two-year fixed-term project position, federally funded, offering the opportunity to apply environmental expertise within a values-driven, ecclesiastical environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply/Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability
  • Experience in public relations
  • Experience with project development and steering
  • Experience with ecclesiastical structures and working with volunteers is advantageous
