Job Summary

The Diocese of Speyer is seeking an engaged Climate Protection Manager to drive sustainable and climate-friendly initiatives. This role is crucial for developing and implementing the diocesan climate protection concept, focusing on areas like energy, mobility, procurement, IT infrastructure, and real estate. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating the energy and greenhouse gas balance sheet, managing the project process, coordinating internal administrative tasks, and developing initial climate protection measures and consulting services for parishes and church institutions. The manager will also organize workshops, contribute to public relations, and network with key internal and external stakeholders. This position is initially project-based and limited to two years, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, offering a chance to apply environmental expertise within a values-oriented, faith-based organization.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Environmental Engineering, Energy and Environmental Technology, Supply/Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental and Sustainability Science

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and professional experience in climate protection, energy and environmental management, and sustainability
  • Experience in public relations and media affinity
  • Experience in project development and steering
  • Experience with church structures and collaboration with volunteers (advantageous)
