Job Summary

This role involves applying specialized knowledge to patient-oriented diagnostics within molecular (hemato-)oncology and somatic genetics, contributing directly to individualized therapy planning. The Scientific Employee will be responsible for generating diagnostic reports, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, including the evaluation of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and liquid biopsy analyses. A key component of the job is the continuous optimization of NGS evaluation pipelines and active participation in the scientific development of new analytical procedures to expand the somatic diagnostics portfolio. Candidates must possess a degree in Biology or a comparable natural science field, preferably with experience in molecular diagnostics, NGS procedures, and working with specialized laboratory information and genetic database systems, while adhering strictly to certified quality management standards (ISO 15189).

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Biology or a comparable natural science program. PhD is welcome but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in (hemato-)oncological or molecular pathological diagnostics
  • Extensive knowledge of molecular biological and genetic procedures, especially NGS
  • Experience working with peripheral blood, bone marrow, and FFPE samples
  • Ability to reliably evaluate somatic variants according to WHO and Tier classification
  • Desirable: Experience in diagnostic reporting considering therapeutic options
  • Desirable: Familiarity with genetic databases and analytical pipelines for somatic variants
