Job Summary

This role involves joining a dedicated team in Hannover, Germany, focusing on cutting-edge genetic diagnostics, specifically in molecular (hemato-)oncology and somatic genetics. The Scientific Associate will be responsible for creating detailed diagnostic reports, directly contributing to personalized therapy planning for patients. Key daily tasks include analyzing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, liquid biopsy results, and other somatic genetic assays using modern IT systems like GePaDo, MOLIS, Varvis, and QCI. The position requires expertise in molecular biology and genetics, particularly NGS diagnostics, and experience handling various sample types (peripheral blood, bone marrow, FFPE). Furthermore, the associate will actively optimize NGS analysis pipelines, develop new analytical procedures, and ensure all work adheres strictly to certified quality management standards (ISO 9001/ISO 15189), contributing significantly to the advancement of diagnostic processes.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Biology or a comparable natural science field. A PhD is welcome but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in (hemato-)oncological or molecular pathological diagnostics
  • Extensive knowledge of molecular biological and genetic procedures, especially NGS
  • Experience working with peripheral blood, bone marrow, and FFPE samples
  • Ability to safely evaluate somatic variants according to WHO and Tier classification
  • Ideal experience in diagnostic reporting considering therapeutic options
  • Familiarity with genetic databases and analysis pipelines for somatic variants
