Job Summary

This role involves applying specialized knowledge in patient-oriented diagnostics, focusing on report generation within molecular (hemato-)oncology and somatic genetics to contribute to individualized therapy planning. The Scientific Associate will utilize modern technology, including Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Liquid Biopsy analyses, integrating expertise into routine diagnostics. Key responsibilities include optimizing NGS evaluation pipelines, developing new analytical procedures to expand the somatic diagnostics portfolio, and ensuring all tasks adhere to certified quality management systems (ISO 9001/ISO 15189). Candidates should possess a degree in Biology or a comparable natural science field, professional experience in molecular pathology/oncological diagnostics, and proficiency with specific LIS and genetic databases like Varvis and QCI. Completed degree in Biology or a comparable natural science field. A doctorate (PhD) is welcome but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in (hemato-)oncological or molecular pathological diagnostics
  • Extensive knowledge of molecular biological and genetic procedures, especially NGS
  • Experience working with peripheral blood, bone marrow, and FFPE samples
  • Ability to reliably evaluate somatic variants according to WHO and Tier classification
  • Desirable: Experience in report generation considering therapeutic options
