This critical role involves coordinating measures to implement the European Water Framework Directive, ensuring the timely and budget-compliant execution of watercourse expansion and maintenance planning. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing the Dortmund Flood Protection Action Plan, developing flood hazard maps, and optimizing water management strategies across the city's 300 km of waterways. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, expertise in hydraulic engineering, and proficiency in specialized software like iTWO and novaKANDIS, ensuring Dortmund's waterways are resilient against rapid climatic changes for the benefit of its citizens.

Required Skills

Education

Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Hydraulic Engineering/Water Management, or comparable disciplines with a water management focus.

Experience

  • Professional experience in hydraulic engineering or water management
  • Experience and strong interest in leading employees
