Job Summary

This role involves executing essential microbiological and cell culture experiments and analyses, managing the resulting data, and generating detailed protocols and reports. A core responsibility is maintaining the critical infrastructure of the cell and molecular biology laboratories, including the safe administration and refilling of the liquid nitrogen tank. The technician will also support institutional procurement, manage safety data sheets, and conduct safety instruction for new staff. Candidates must possess solid theoretical and practical expertise in microbiology and biotechnology, coupled with excellent organizational skills for laboratory workflows and strong proficiency in spreadsheet programs like MS Excel. This position is initially a one-year fixed-term contract with a strong possibility of becoming permanent, offering comprehensive social benefits within a university environment in Vienna.

Required Skills

Education

Matura (equivalent school leaving certificate) and specialized technical training (e.g., HTL or FH) in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemical Technology, Biotechnological Processes, or a comparable technical field.
