Job Summary
This role involves supporting research within the Federal Research Institute for Nutrition and Food (Max Rubner-Institut), focusing on the safety and quality of cereal products. The successful candidate will be integral to a research project characterizing and evaluating dry-processing methods for grains, specifically focusing on milling malted barley and adjusting protein content via air sifting for optimized brewing processes. Day-to-day tasks include independently planning, executing, and documenting laboratory and pilot-scale milling and air sifting experiments. You will perform chemical and physical analyses on milled products and derived foods, manage sample logistics, and document measurement data using Microsoft Office applications. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as a Food Technology Assistant or Chemical Laboratory Assistant, possesses strong analytical skills in food chemistry, and is proficient in data processing and documentation. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until November 30, 2028, offering flexible working hours and the chance to contribute to public welfare research.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Food Technology Assistant, Chemical Laboratory Assistant, or comparable qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in assessing food raw materials and foods, especially cereals/grains
- Practical experience in chemical and physical analysis methods, particularly food chemistry
- Experience in grain processing (Desirable)
- Practical experience in milling technology (Desirable)
- Experience with sensory, physical, and chemical measurement methods for food assessment (Desirable)
