Job Summary

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Würzburg for a recent graduate in Computer Science to join the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping (GDWS). The role focuses heavily on IT infrastructure management, including the operation, administration, and installation of physical and virtual servers. Day-to-day responsibilities involve managing IT workstations, administering network infrastructure, proxies, firewalls, and antivirus systems, and ensuring data backup and IT security compliance (BSI Basic Protection). The successful candidate will also be responsible for planning the replacement and renewal of IT systems, managing budget planning for these initiatives, and handling procurement processes for hardware and software. This position is ideal for a highly organized and service-oriented professional with strong German language skills and a foundational understanding of ITIL v3 and incident management.

Required Skills

Education

Completed University Degree (Bachelor/FH Diploma) in Computer Science or comparable higher education with a focus on Computer Science

Experience

  • Very good knowledge and experience in at least three specified areas (Microsoft Server OS, Central Microsoft Services, Client OS, Office, Virtualization)
  • Experience with Antivirus, Storage, and Backup systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving faults on servers, clients, and networks
  • Knowledge and experience in IT Security according to BSI Basic Protection standards
  • Knowledge and experience with ITIL v3 and IT Service Management
