Job Summary

The German Weather Service (DWD) is seeking an Authorized Electrical Specialist and System Responsible professional to manage critical measurement programs within the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) and Integrated Measurement and Information System (IMIS) initiatives in Offenbach am Main. This role involves comprehensive system responsibility for radioactivity monitoring programs, including organizing and coordinating the sampling and analysis of substances like Radon-222, Krypton-85, and Tritium. Day-to-day tasks include method testing, developing new measurement and calibration procedures, investigating interference factors, and instructing staff on sampling and analysis techniques. The specialist will also serve as the Authorized Electrical Specialist for radioactivity measurement systems, supporting the procurement of electrical components. Candidates must hold a relevant engineering or physics degree, possess the qualification of an Electrical Specialist, and be prepared to acquire the Authorized Electrical Specialist certification during the probationary period. Strong knowledge of radiation protection, general electrical engineering, and automation technology is essential for success in this demanding, yet crucial, permanent position.

Required Skills

Education

University of Applied Sciences/Bachelor's degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology, or Physics, or successful completion of the career examination for the higher technical or scientific service.

Experience

  • Professional experience as an Electrical Specialist
  • Professional experience in radiation protection and radioactivity measurement
  • Professional experience in general electrical engineering and automation technology
  • At least 3 years of relevant practical professional experience after obtaining the required university degree (for E12 classification)

Additional

  • Must possess the qualification of an Electrical Specialist and be willing to acquire the qualification of Authorized Electrical Specialist during the probationary period. Willingness to undertake single and multi-day business trips. Must provide proof of equivalence for foreign educational qualifications.
