Job Summary

Join the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach am Main as a permanent IT Specialist, providing secure and high-performance communication infrastructures for the DWD and the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) business area. This role involves the scientific processing of complex tasks related to network management and system monitoring, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure. Day-to-day activities include developing fundamental strategies for expanding and operating network management across local and wide-area networks (including BMV-WAN), conducting market observation, creating comprehensive documentation, and scientifically developing procedures for online infrastructure documentation and performance measurement. You will also provide technical guidance to users and contribute expert advice to communication projects. Ideal candidates possess a scientific university degree in a relevant field and strong experience in communication technologies, Unix/Linux environments, and virtualization, with a preference for OpenSource solutions.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master's level or equivalent), preferably in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
