Job Summary
This PhD position at the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg involves a cutting-edge research project focused on the intricate interplay between cognitive flexibility and uncertainty in laboratory mice. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within the German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) and the Center for Intervention and Research on adaptive and maladaptive Brain Circuits (C-I-R-C). Day-to-day tasks include conducting behavioral neuroscience experiments, analyzing complex experimental data, and potentially performing stereotaxic surgery. The role requires a strong background in neurobiology, a keen interest in the neural basis of neuropsychiatric disorders, and a willingness to learn script-based configuration for experimental protocols. Experience
- Solid practical background in neurobiology
- Strong interest in the neural basis of neuropsychiatric disorders
- Desirable experience in behavioral neuroscience (e.g., animal paradigms of emotion, executive functions)
- Desirable experience in methods to assess brain activity or connectivity
- Advantageous experience in stereotaxic surgery
- Advantageous certificate in laboratory animal science (Function A or FELASA B)
