Job Summary

This Scientist role at the Max Rubner Institute in Karlsruhe involves active participation in the interdisciplinary, federally funded VFT4Hero project, which focuses on developing indoor cultivation strategies and root health management for food plants. The primary responsibilities include the planning, execution, evaluation, and comprehensive documentation of experiments, specifically utilizing advanced chemical analytics such as LC/MS and potentially GCxGC/MS methods, alongside detailed sample preparation. The position also requires specialized microbiological and molecular biological work, including the cultivation of fungi, yeast, and bacteria, and studying fungus-plant interactions. Key requirements include a completed Master's degree in Biology or a related field, practical expertise in chromatographic methods (HPLC), and strong knowledge of sterile microbiological and molecular biological techniques. This is a unique, part-time (65% FTE), fixed-term position until October 2028, explicitly intended to support the successful candidate in pursuing their scientific qualification, such as a PhD.
