Postdoctoral Scientist in Root Physiology | Postdoctoral scientist (f/m/d) in the field of Root Physiology
Leibniz-Institut für Pflanzen- genetik und Kulturpflanzen- forschung (IPK)
Job Summary
This two-year, full-time postdoctoral position focuses on characterizing xylem in maize roots within a research group dedicated to studying crop root anatomical and architectural traits, primarily in cereals like barley, wheat, and maize. The scientist will utilize high-throughput phenotyping, imaging, and microscopy for root analysis, conduct plant and root physiological measurements, and apply functional-structural plant and mathematical modeling to determine the benefits of root phenotypes for stress tolerance. A key aspect of the role involves reporting findings through scientific journals and oral presentations. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in plant science or a related field, possesses experience in field and greenhouse plant management, and is proficient in modern root phenotyping, image analysis, and simulation modeling. This role offers a supportive academic environment, excellent infrastructure, and the opportunity to contribute cutting-edge research to enhance plant stress tolerance.
