Job Summary

This role is critical for securing the energy transition by ensuring the reliable operation of high-voltage transmission networks. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the quality assurance and testing of protection and control systems, including interfaces to telecommunications and network control systems, directly at substations across the entire network area. Key responsibilities include frequent, multi-day business trips with overnight stays, performing on-site maintenance and commissioning tests, and conducting factory functional tests. Candidates need a background in electrical engineering or equivalent, specific experience in high-voltage protection or control technology, and proficiency with testing software, serial protocols, and IT networking concepts. The position offers the opportunity to work on innovative energy systems like HVDC and grid control systems while utilizing flexible work arrangements and mobile working options.

Required Skills

Education

Master Craftsman/Technician certification or university degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in protection or control technology within high-voltage engineering
  • Experience with testing software, interface testers, and specific device software
  • Experience in commissioning, serial protocols, and IT networks
  • Advantageous: Experience with HVDC systems or grid control systems (STATCOM, MSCDN, MSR, RPS)
