Job Summary

This position is ideal for a university graduate interested in pursuing a PhD focused on knowledge-augmented Large Language Models (LLMs) within the Institute for Technologies and Management of Digital Transformation at the University of Wuppertal. The role involves the design, development, and implementation of advanced algorithms for knowledge-enhanced LLMs, focusing heavily on Prompt and Context Engineering to boost model accuracy and efficiency. Key responsibilities include adapting and fine-tuning existing LLMs for specific applications, developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using external knowledge sources (like vector databases and knowledge graphs), and conducting rigorous experiments to evaluate model performance. The successful candidate will also present scientific findings at conferences and actively advance their personal and scientific qualifications within an interdisciplinary research team dedicated to digital transformation and semantic systems engineering.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical), Physics, Mathematics, Computational Linguistics, or comparable fields

Experience
