Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher position is situated within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Physics Department, at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. The successful candidate will join the ERC-funded project 'Lattice QCD simulations at the dawn of European Exascale Computing' (LEEX), focusing heavily on the computational aspects of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Day-to-day responsibilities include developing highly optimized GPU code for simulations and calculating essential observables. Key research involvement includes advanced algorithmic development, such as creating new Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithms for improved topology sampling or multi-level sampling procedures, and implementing these solutions into scalable software designed for GPU systems. The role requires a completed PhD in Physics, advanced knowledge of Quantum Field Theory, and excellent programming abilities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge theoretical physics research within an internationally connected group, leveraging next-generation Exascale computing resources.
