Job Summary

This position is a unique opportunity for a doctoral candidate to join the European Research Council (ERC) project "Lattice QCD simulations at the dawn of European Exascale Computing" (LEEX) at the University of Wuppertal. The successful candidate will focus on the computational aspects of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), including developing GPU code for simulations and calculating observables. A core component of the PhD research involves developing novel algorithms for Monte Carlo simulations used in gauge field generation, specifically exploring Generative Models trained with Neural Networks. The work will investigate how incorporating symmetries and correlations, such as the Fermion Determinant, can improve these models. This role requires a Master's degree in Physics, advanced knowledge of Quantum Field Theory, and strong programming skills, offering a fixed-term contract for three years to facilitate the completion of the doctoral degree.
