Job Summary

This position is ideal for a highly motivated scientist or doctoral candidate specializing in Electrochemistry, Biosensors, or Microsystems Technology, focusing on innovative research within Hahn-Schickard's Embedded Systems division in Freiburg. The core responsibilities include conducting advanced electrochemical measurements on ferroelectric microelectrode arrays and performing neurophysiological experiments on cultured cells. The researcher will be expected to present and publish their findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, collaborating closely with internal and external partners from industry and academia. This role offers the unique opportunity to pursue a PhD while contributing to cutting-edge research, mentoring student staff, and working within interdisciplinary teams, requiring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, alongside fluency in both German and English.

Required Skills

Education

Completed Bachelor's and Master's degree with above-average success in Electrochemistry, Biosensor Technology, Microsystems Technology, Materials Science, or related disciplines. Opportunity to prepare for a doctorate.

Experience

  • Experience in the electrical characterization of microelectrodes using impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry (ideally)
  • Knowledge of neurophysiology (ideally)
  • Experience in practical laboratory work with chemicals, biomolecules, and aqueous electrolytes (desirable)
  • Experience in training and guiding student employees
