Job Summary

This role involves contributing specialized expertise to patient-oriented genetic diagnostics, focusing on molecular (hemato-)oncology and somatic genetics. The Scientific Employee will be responsible for creating diagnostic reports, evaluating Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Liquid Biopsy analyses, and integrating these findings into routine diagnostic processes to support individualized therapy planning. A key part of the job is the continuous optimization of NGS analysis pipelines and the development of new analytical methods to expand the somatic diagnostics portfolio. Candidates should possess a degree in Biology or a related natural science, professional experience in molecular pathology/oncological diagnostics, and proficiency with specific laboratory information systems and genetic databases, ensuring all work adheres to certified quality management standards (ISO9001/ISO15189).

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Biology or a comparable natural science field. A doctorate (PhD) is welcome but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Experience in (hemato-)oncological or molecular pathological diagnostics
  • Expertise in molecular biological and genetic procedures, especially NGS
  • Experience working with peripheral blood, bone marrow, and FFPE samples
  • Ability to safely assess somatic variants according to WHO and Tier classification
  • Experience in diagnostic report generation considering therapeutic options (Ideally)
  • Familiarity with genetic databases and analysis pipelines for somatic variants (Ideally)
