Job Summary
This role involves working within the City Drainage department of Dortmund, focusing on the administrative development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the comprehensive KANDIS sewer management system. The specialist will be responsible for planning and implementing procedural changes, developing solutions for data acquisition and data cycles, and performing data entry and evaluation. A key component of the job is project management, specifically leading updates and implementing new technical modules and applications for both client and web environments. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Geoinformatics, Surveying, Geography, or a comparable field, and possesses strong knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), particularly ArcGIS or QGIS, and database management. This position offers a high degree of personal responsibility, flexible working hours, and the chance to contribute to the future-proof environmental management of a major city.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in Geoinformatics, Surveying, Geography, or a comparable field. Also open to civil servants in the surveying technical service (NRW, Laufbahngruppe 2, 1. Einstiegsamt).
Experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (preferably ArcGIS or QGIS) and databases
- Initial experience with Spatial ETL tools such as FME software
- Interest in sewer management systems and settlement water management
- Professional experience welcome, but entry-level applicants are also encouraged to apply
