Job Summary

This role involves supporting cutting-edge research in a highly interdisciplinary environment focused on developing biohybrid and bio-inspired materials for advanced medical applications, such as regenerative hydrogel therapies and 3D bioprinting. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing and assisting with experimental protocols, including material preparation, 2D and 3D cell cultivation techniques, imaging (bright-field and fluorescence), and various cellular/molecular assays. Key responsibilities also include ensuring laboratory organization, managing procurement (ordering supplies, contacting vendors), maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, and meticulously documenting all work in lab books or electronic systems. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside engineers, chemists, and bioengineers in a dynamic, international setting with modern infrastructure, contributing directly to innovative research projects at the DWI – Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a CTA (Chemical Technical Assistant), BTA (Biological Technical Assistant), MTA (Medical Technical Assistant), or comparable scientific qualification

Experience

  • Experience with cell culture techniques, preferably for highly specialized and sensitive cells (iPSCs and primary cells)
  • Professional experience with basic laboratory techniques and standard laboratory equipment
  • Ideally, experience with basic molecular/cellular assays (ELISA, Western Blot, PCR, Immunostaining, Microscopy)
