Job Summary

This full-time Academic Counselor/Lecturer position at the Institute of Neurobiology, Heidelberg University, involves advanced research and teaching within the Interdisciplinary Center for Neuroscience (IZN). The successful candidate will focus on complex neurobiological techniques, including the construction and production of recombinant AAVs, stereotactic viral injections into the CNS, and the cultivation of various neuronal types (primary and iPSC-derived). Day-to-day tasks will also include live imaging of calcium and mitochondrial membrane potential, ion channel expression in HEK293 cells, and co-immunoprecipitation experiments. A key requirement is a PhD in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or Cell Biology, combined with extensive postdoctoral experience, particularly utilizing mouse models for neuropathic and inflammatory pain, incorporating surgical procedures, immunohistochemistry, and single-cell sequencing analysis. This role offers the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to cutting-edge neuroscience research while fulfilling a structured teaching obligation, potentially leading to a civil service appointment (Beamtenverhältnis).
