Job Summary
This doctoral research position, based in Dortmund and funded by the DFG-GRK 2989, focuses on investigating the acute response of tissue-resident and inflammatory macrophages following reperfusion injury in acute myocardial infarction. The successful candidate will be responsible for the independent planning and execution of complex biological experiments, including establishing novel methods and sample preparation strategies for human and murine samples. Key activities involve utilizing advanced imaging techniques such as Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy and Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy, alongside flow cytometry and mass spectrometry for data acquisition. The role requires strong organizational skills for coordinating cooperation projects, meticulous data processing using software like ImageJ, and active participation in scientific dissemination through presentations and publications. This is an excellent opportunity for a biologist or biochemist to contribute to personalized medicine research in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
Required Skills
Education
Master's, Diploma, or equivalent degree in Natural Sciences (Biology or Biochemistry preferred)
Experience
- Master's, Diploma, or equivalent degree in Natural Sciences (preferably Biology or Biochemistry)
- Practical experience with fluorescence microscopy techniques
- Practical experience with flow cytometry
- Experience with image processing programs (e.g., ImageJ, Imaris)
- Willingness to perform animal experiments (FELASA B certification desirable)
