Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Analytical Sciences (ISAS) is seeking a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher specializing in Computer Vision and Machine Learning to join the Analysis of Microscopic BIOMedical Images (AMBIOM) group in Dortmund. This role is crucial for the DFG-funded ComplexEye project, focusing on high-throughput single-cell analysis of fast-moving cells using array microscopy. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing novel Machine Learning algorithms for 2D time-lapse microscopy image data, integrating large Foundation Models into analytical workflows, and implementing AI-based software solutions, primarily using Python and PyTorch. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field, possess comprehensive experience in Computer Vision and Deep Learning, and be fluent in English. This 3-year position offers a clear research topic, state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working arrangements, and excellent opportunities for scientific development and publication within an international and dynamic research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's, Diploma, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a relevant scientific field

Experience

  • Comprehensive experience in Computer Vision or Image Analysis
  • Experience with Foundation Models (Large Vision Models or multimodal Large Language Models)
  • Publications at high-ranking Computer Vision conferences or in journals (advantageous)
  • Experience in developing Open-Source software (advantageous)
