Job Summary

This is a pivotal, part-time leadership role (initially 19.5 hours/week, up to 24 hours possible) within the Mobility and Transport Department for the City of Aachen, focused on driving the city's mobility transition. The successful candidate will co-lead the Road Planning team under a 'Top-Sharing' model, working alongside an existing manager. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing and optimizing team processes, coordinating road planning and construction tasks, managing external engineering consultants, and representing planning proposals in political committees. Key requirements include a university degree in Civil Engineering (preferably specializing in Transportation or Road Construction) and at least three years of relevant professional experience in road planning or construction, ideally within a municipal administration or planning office. The role demands strong management, communication, and social skills to navigate complex coordination processes with various internal and external stakeholders, contributing directly to Aachen's sustainable infrastructure development.

Required Skills

Education

University Degree (Dipl. Ing. FH/Bachelor) in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally Civil Engineering with specialization in Transportation or Road Construction. Mandatory completion of leadership training (D 300) upon transfer of the leadership function.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in road planning and/or road construction
  • Experience ideally gained in municipal administration or a planning office
  • Management and communication qualities for complex coordination processes
  • Leadership experience or successful participation in a management trainee program (desirable)
