Job Summary
The Institute for Metal Forming is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to drive innovative research and development focused on future-oriented solutions for metal forming process assessment and design utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI). This role involves developing specialized AI tools that enhance existing capabilities, primarily focusing on analyzing the impact of process parameters on microstructure development in steels and resulting material properties. Day-to-day responsibilities include comprehensive project management, scientific analysis, detailed reporting, and coordinating project meetings. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and publishing research findings, presenting at national and international conferences, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with industry and university partners. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with an AI startup, ensuring direct transfer of academic knowledge into practical application, and requires a Master's degree in Materials Science/Technology coupled with deep programming expertise.

- Professional experience in innovative research and development tasks

- Experience supporting the supervision of student theses and teaching activities

- Must meet the employment requirements for fixed-term contracts according to the German Fixed-Term Research Contract Act (WissZeitVG). This is a fixed-term position until November 30, 2028, starting at 0.75 FTE (30 hours/week), with the possibility of increasing to 1.0 FTE.
