Job Summary

This fixed-term position at the University of Hamburg's Regional Computing Center (RRZ) seeks an IT Security Consultant to secure high-performance IT infrastructures and services. The role involves planning and executing critical IT security and infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on network and system security. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing IT architectures, optimizing security management processes according to ITIL, and ensuring compliance with internal information security guidelines. The consultant will also contribute actively to the development and maintenance of the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and provide expert advice on IT security matters to university facilities. Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in IT Security or Computer Science, proven professional experience in IT security and network infrastructure, and expertise in technologies like Cisco, Firewalls, Windows/Unix/Linux, and Cloud Security. Fluency in both German and English is mandatory.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent, ideally in IT Security or Computer Science. Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, Comp TIA Security+, or comparable are required.

Experience

  • Proven professional experience in IT Security, infrastructure, and network security
  • Practical experience with ISMS (Information Security Management System)
  • Practical experience in Security Incident Response
  • Practical experience in developing Security Architectures
  • Experience with security standards, such as ISO 27001
  • Experience in an academic environment (ideal)
