Job Summary

This role involves comprehensive system administration and IT project management within the Chair of Computational Systems Biology, supporting an international EU project. Key responsibilities include managing Linux and macOS infrastructure, providing user support, and administering High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters. The administrator will independently conceive, organize, and execute IT projects, including the strategic planning, introduction, and migration of crucial software systems like cloud platforms, project servers, and communication tools. A successful candidate will possess strong system administration skills, proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PHP, bash), and experience with virtualization and containerization, ensuring the expansion and automation of bioinformatics infrastructure while supporting and guiding students in IT-relevant processes.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science or a comparable field of study, or equivalent skills, experience, and qualifications

Experience

  • At least three years of practical experience in the specified area of responsibility
  • Relevant experience in system administration under macOS and/or Linux
  • Experience in server administration (planning, organization, and realization)
