Job Summary

The German Weather Service (DWD) is seeking an experienced IT Specialist to join their team in Offenbach am Main. This crucial, permanent role focuses on ensuring secure and high-performance IT communication infrastructures and network-related services for the DWD and approximately 25,000 employees across the Federal Ministry of Transport's business sector. Day-to-day responsibilities include the scientific processing of complex tasks related to network management and system monitoring, developing fundamental strategies for expanding and operating these systems across local and wide-area networks (including the BMV-WAN), and providing technical guidance to users. The specialist will also be responsible for market observation, documentation creation, and the scientific development and continuous improvement of online documentation, performance measurement, and product selection (preferably OpenSource). Candidates must hold a scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Physics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, and possess strong German and English language skills. This position offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure within a large governmental network.
