Job Summary
The TUD Dresden University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate / PhD Student for a position within the Research Training Group 2861 “Planar Carbon Lattices.” This role, starting October 1, 2025, involves conducting cutting-edge research on microstructured PCL-based electroadsorption devices, bridging synthetic chemistry, condensed-matter physics, and materials science. The successful candidate will engage in atomic-precision synthesis and exploration of new planar carbon lattices for next-generation quantum materials and devices. Required Skills
Education
Master of Science (M.Sc.) or equivalent in Chemistry or Materials Sciences with a specialization in synthetic chemistry; PhD enrollment is the aim of the position.
Experience
- Expertise in advanced synthesis of organic and inorganic materials
- Expertise or ability to quickly become familiar with powder X-ray diffraction, SEM, and electrochemical characterization techniques
- Strong motivation to independently conduct research
- Experience working in interdisciplinary collaborations

Additional
- The position is limited to 30 months with an option of extension to a maximum of 42 months until March 31, 2028. Employment governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position entails 75% of full-time weekly hours. Excellent results on individual performance criteria (e.g., manuscript/publication from Master thesis, awards) and timely completion of higher education are required.
